Let’s zoom into this noun and check out the real meaning. According to the online dictionary:
- The state or quality of being loyal; faithfulness to commitments or obligations.

- Faithful adherence to a sovereign, government, leader, cause, etc.

So we can all see that loyalty is faithfulness to commitments. It is important to be faithful in a relationship. God is always faithful to us. “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” Numbers 23:19 ‭KJV. I love this scripture, this verse admonishes us to also keep our promises in a relationship. Jesus is our best example in terms of loyalty; “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Hebrews‬ ‭13:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It is important to understand that Loyalty is the issue of the heart and a decision that one needs to take. My husband and I have made a vow to each other that we shall never criticize each other whilst in company with other people. Amazingly, it was not easy in the beginning but we have mastered it and we are loyal to each other. Criticizing your better half in front of other people breaks trust and undermines loyalty, this is according to Biblical Principles of Marriage manual; pp 37, CFCI. When friends say things that can embarrass your better half-jokingly, defend your partner jokingly also! That’s what I do! Sometimes you might need to give up some friends especially if they interfere with your relationship, please check the blog on Soul Ties. Friends of opposite sex are a big no, this excludes colleagues, brothers, and sisters in Christ. Here I am referring to the opposite sex in terms of previous relationships or those you tend to share your private life with, that is big NO! Separate yourself from such relationships, if you want your love relationship to be successful. “A faithful man shall abound with blessings.” Proverbs‬ ‭28:20‬a KJV‬‬. 

Loyalty births unity.

When we were still in courtship, my husband had some female friends from his previous relationships. There was one of these friends that lived within his vicinity. Sometimes he used to go and have coffee with her. Let me tell you, he use to come back and sometimes he will accuse me of certain things because of the advice he got from her, think about it, what were they talking about? One day I asked him, will you engage with this person whiles I am around, and he was like, I doubt it but maybe, immediately the Holy Spirit revealed to him that he was not loyal to me. Jesus eluded to this, “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.” Matthew 6:24 KJV‬‬. Once God has revealed to you that the relationship is from Him, be loyal and work on your relationship.

There are certain trends and exposures that can pollute your mindset with the relationship perspective. Soap operas, novels and some worldly celebrities that depicts a false sense of romance can be a cause distraction in your love relationship. Let me tell you, all those movies of the world are not aligned with God’s word. You should also not compare your relationship with other relationships. Always pray for your companion, support each other and be loyal to each other. Separate yourself from pornography or movies with sex content. Believe that God has done what he promised: “Now the Lord God said, It is not good (sufficient, satisfactory) that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper meet (suitable, adapted, complementary) for him.”Genesis‬ 2:18 ‭‭AMPC‬‬. 

When I met my husband I was coming from a divorce and I said to God, your word says, “I am a new creation, all things have passed away behold all things have become new! So my mind does not remember where I came from and I am ready to be the suitable fit in all aspects of this new relationship”. I eradicated evil soul ties that could have crept in and elicited a comparison spirit. I conquered the enemy by speaking God’s word.

In closing, be loyal to your Christian walk with Christ Jesus. Let Jesus be the center of your relationship. Remain pure in your relationship and the Lord will give you the desires of your heart. Lord Jesus, I thank you for the fresh revelation knowledge about loyalty in terms of the relationship. I receive this word with meekness. Forgive me where I have been unfaithful in my relationship due to lack of knowledge. I declare that I always will be loyal to you and to my relationship. In the Name of Jesus, Amen!
