In the beginning, she would cook “anything”. One night “anything” was pasta, my favorite. The next night it was rice and curry. Another night was one of her green diet smoothies. One sniff of the smoothie had me wishing I had been specific. It felt like with each passing night the more I said anything, the worse the meals got.
On one particular day, when she asked, “What would you like for dinner?” and I responded, “anything”, she opened the fully stocked fridge looked inside then closed it, turned to a cupboard made a show of moving packets around and turned back to me and said, “Sorry I can’t seem to find ‘anything’, what would you like for dinner?”
God is in the detail. Unless you want to end up with a green diet smoothie for dinner or even worse nothing. Be specific.
There’s a scripture that says:
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
Philippians 4:6 (NKJV)
In the Strong’s Concordance 4862, the Hebrew word for request is Mishalah, which actually translates to desires. This shows us God doesn’t just want us to ask Him for “anything” but He wants to know our desires. “He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” (Psalm 20:5)
Let’s be faithful and present our requests to God. The scripture says:
Then the Lord answered me and said,
“Write the vision
And engrave it plainly on [clay] tablets
So that the one who reads it will run.
“For the vision is yet for the appointed [future] time
It hurries toward the goal [of fulfillment]; it will not fail.
Even though it delays, wait [patiently] for it,
Because it will certainly come; it will not delay.
Habakkuk 2:2-3 (AMP)
