And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone;
I will make him a helper comparable to him.”

Don't Be Unequally Yoked from admin's blog

The Bible tells us explicitly that if you are a believer, you should not be in a relationship with a non-believer.

You might not understand these two terms. Let me explain what they mean: a non-believer is a person that has never given their life to Jesus. They might believe there is God but they have not yet received the Holy Spirit to dwell within them. They do not have a relationship with Jesus. They might be going to church but they are not born again. They have never said this prayer or confession,  “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9 NKJV

So, what is a believer? A believer is a person who has received Jesus as their Saviour. The Holy Spirit resides within them and guides them. This person has taken a decision to make Jesus the Lord of their lives and to turn away from sin. When they are tempted, they repent and receive forgiveness. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." I John 1:9 KJV. Apostle Paul postulates that this person is a new creation, hence the term Born Again, that is referring to the spirit man. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” II Corinthians 5:17 NKJV. As a child of God, you need to ensure that you forge a relationship with the right person from this standpoint.

To be unequally yoked refers to two people having a love relationship or even a business relationship, one is a believer and the other one is a non-believer. “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?” III Corinthians 6:14-15 NKJV

My advice is that always ensure that you have a conversation with a believer. The challenge in terms of a non-believer is that the conversation clashes and you might end up being pulled out your beliefs. This is a mismatch, do not allow such an alliance child of God. This is detrimental to the relationship you have with Jesus.  Falling in love comes with emotions that can make you take wrong decisions with your beliefs perspective, rather be safe than sorry.  “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” I Peter 5:8 NKJV

Be vigilant, never allow yourself to be unequally yoked.  Ensure you walk this journey to find love being led by the spirit.

You might be reading this article and you feel in your heart that you do not have a relationship with Jesus, or you do not know whether when you die you will go to heaven or to hell which is a lake of fire. You might also have gone back to sin and may no longer be having a relationship with Jesus. I urge you to confess the Prayer of Salvation deep down from your heart.  Email us at Prayer Requests if you have given your life to Jesus and we will support you in your journey and send you material about being Born Again.
